Adult Beginner Sailing Course

Learn the basics of sailing a dinghy over a weekend or 4 evenings. This course is perfect if you've never sailed before, or have very little sailing experience as we start with the absolute basics. By the end of this course you should have covered all of the skills you need to know to get afloat in light winds under supervision.

We offer our adult courses in two formats: most courses run using larger sailing dinghies such as wayfarers, on a beginners course, this means that the instructor is in the boat with the students. This is a great way to learn if you'd like a gentler start or don't fancy ending up in the water any more than necessary. We sometimes also offer some dates where the course is taught in singlehanded dinghies, where you're on your own in the dinghy and the instructor is in a safety boat nearby. These singlehanded courses likely to involve more swimming, but are exciting and generally a fast way to learn for more adventurous students. Which type of course is planned for a date is indicated on the booking system below.
